Do you ever find yourself envious of someone’s seemingly perfect life on social media? You’re not alone. From the outside, it’s easy to believe that some people have it all – the perfect job, the perfect family, the perfect relationships, and the perfect life. However, the reality is often very different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take the case of a popular YouTuber who traveled to an exotic location and stayed at a beautiful resort. Her videos showed the adorable tropical landscapes and the lovely people she met. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to her vibrant and exciting life, my existence at that time, marked by persistent pain, appeared rather lackluster. I couldn’t help but feel envious. I wouldn’t mind living in that magnificent place for several weeks! I was somewhat drawn to the illusion of a perfect life, or maybe I just desired to believe that it existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was easy to believe that her life was perfect, but as it turned out, her stay in paradise was an escape from her real life. Her company had gone bankrupt and she was facing many difficult conflicts. Behind the scenes, she was going through a lot of pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, consider the fit couple whose videos helped me with my exercise routines. They were humorous and inspiring, with a successful television show and a seemingly perfect marriage with wonderful children. But, as it turned out, they were facing conflicts in their marriage and eventually got divorced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And even a Christian preacher, who was having success after success, was facing her own struggles in her personal life. Her husband was suffering from depression and was suicidal during that time, while she was working through her own difficult past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I aim to not interfere with anyone’s enjoyment of social media personalities and their presence on the internet. In fact, I find it remarkable how easily the human heart can fall into the trap of thinking that some individuals lead a more desirable life than our own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Envy can steal our happiness and enslave us, leading us to believe the illusion of a seemingly perfect life as inspired by influencers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These examples show us that the perfect life is just an illusion. Social media has added a whole new dimension to the commandment that we should not covet (Deut. 5:21). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three individuals in the examples referenced hopped on the current trend of promoting authenticity and vulnerability by sharing their insecurities and some challenges. However, they did not divulge the major crises that were occurring behind their seemingly perfect posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s easy to believe that someone’s life is perfect when we only see the highlights, but behind the scenes, they may be facing difficult crises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s understandable that people don’t want to share the heartbreaking details of their lives with the world. It’s important to have a degree of vulnerability in our lives, but when it comes to deep crises, they should be dealt with primarily within a close circle of family and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We need to shift our mindset and be aware that no human life is perfect, no matter how it may seem. And even Jesus, who lived a righteous life, didn’t have a perfect life. A righteous life may be much more fulfilling than a perfect one because it is marked by meaning and significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s time for us to stop coveting and start living a righteous life. At the end of time, God will wipe away all tears and we can enter eternity and dwell forever in the perfect love of our Father. A life truly worth living knows in its heart that perfection is yet to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
