Who exactly was Archippus? And what is this verse really about?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We don\u2019t know much about him. In another passage, he is mentioned as a \u201cfellow soldier\u201d (Philemon 1:2), so we know he was a follower of Jesus. And here, in this letter, Paul addresses him directly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe Archippus was struggling with doubt about his calling, battling insecurities in his ministry, or getting easily distracted. Whatever the reason, Paul urges him to focus \u2014 to center his attention on what God wanted to do through him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This verse spoke deeply to my heart \u2014 on levels I hadn\u2019t even realized existed.
How often have I allowed myself to get distracted, rather than faithfully fulfill what\u2019s been entrusted to me?
How many hours had I already spent in front of a screen, doing everything but focusing on the ministry I\u2019d received?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then came the paradox:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the very month I was meditating on Colossians 4:17, I came down with both an ear infection and pneumonia. I was bedridden for days, and my recovery was slow. Fulfilling my ministry simply wasn\u2019t possible in that season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But as I continued to reflect daily on the verse, another part of it came into sharper focus:
\u201cSee to it\u2026\u201d If I don\u2019t see the ministry clearly, how can I focus on it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I began to reassess my priorities:
What exactly are the tasks God has given me?
What does my ministry truly consist of \u2014 and what can I let go of?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It became clear that some of my dreams \u2014 especially those tied to my calling \u2014 had already been fulfilled. Others still lay ahead. I found myself asking once again where my life was headed and what my current dreams looked like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What is my vision for my life? I listened closely to my heart and let my thoughts wander toward what could be. What truly matters to me in each area of life? I asked God to help me dream again \u2014 and above all, that His will would be done in everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was a beautiful time of inspiration, and a new fire was kindled in my heart. I wrote down my new life goals, and I\u2019m excited to pursue them \u2014 and to look back in a few years to see which doors God has opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019m still amazed at how a single Bible verse could realign my entire life. It brought me renewed hope and fresh direction. I wholeheartedly recommend this challenge to you. Which Bible verse would you like to meditate on for a month?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
