No matter if you are married, in courtship or waiting for the one, these 10 prayers will improve your relationship greatly! I’m very passionate about praying because I’ve seen God answering countless prayers in my life and relationships. God is truly kind, faithful and his will for us is good. So, let’s pray that his will is coming to pass in your husbands’ life:
1. Show me how to serve my husband.
You’re probably the most influential person in his life. What you do for him can literally change his life. We are called to be servants and to love other people. Let’s obey the command to love others in our closest circle. It’s easy to take the people that are around us daily for granted.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
2. Bring to light the issues of his heart and help him sort them out.
Everyone brings issues into a marriage. Everybody has things in his or her heart that need to be sorted out by God. Your man probably carries a stack of hurt, rejection, loss and feelings of not being good enough in his heart. Keep that in mind. Only God can bring to light those hidden things. But you need to play your part, if you want him to get restored and healed. He probably won’t trust you with the deep issues of his heart, if you nag him and give him a feeling of not being good enough for you. But if you show him how much you love him and that you’re always there for him, he’s probably more willing to open up over time. Dealing with hurt and rejection is a slow and painful process. Don’t rush it.
3. Give my husband the courage to pursue the vision you have for his life.
The world can be brutal on a man’s ego. Not only women suffer from societies expectation to look and behave a certain way. There are also expectations on man to be successful and strong all the time. It’s easy to get caught up in the world’s way of doing things so we get discouraged in pursuing God’s call on our life. Ask God to give your husband all the courage and strength that he needs.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
4. Help him grow closer to you, Lord.
You make yourself a favor if you pray this, trust me! Who doesn’t want to be in relationship with a great man of God?
5. How can I encourage him today?
Encouragement is vital! Your husband needs you to cheer him on in a world that’s trying to take him down. Show him how grateful you are for the things he’s doing (work, household, playing with the kids, or whatever). Help him to see the gifts and talents that he has got. In most cases it’s easier for you to see all the greatness that’s in him before he can see it himself. Tell him what you see in him and what he can accomplish.
6. Lead and guide my husband in everything.
This is a prayer that we should pray over every person we know all the time. Literally! It is absolutely crucial that we follow God’s guidance.
7. Make me a good wife.
You are the most important person in his life. Develop a strong relationship with God and obey him in everything. You do your husband a favor when you work on yourself.
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Proverbs 14:1
8. Develop him into the man you want him to be.
When God formed your husband, he placed a purpose on the inside of his heart. His personality wasn’t a mistake, but a roadmap to fulfill God’s call on his life. But in order for him to walk in his calling, he needs to become the person God always intended him to be.
9. Give him wisdom in decisions making.
When it comes to friendships, finances and decisions concerning your family, we want him to make decisions that welcome God’s favor into our lives, won’t we?
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
10. Bless him and make him a blessing.
Of course, we want only what’s best for our man. Let’s not only ask God to bless him, but to let the Holy Spirit flow through him to bless other people as well.
