Whether you’re single, in a relationship, engaged, married, freshly separated, or navigating through an uncertain phase, here is a prayer for your love life:
A prayer for singles
Father, thank you for this season of my life. I don’t know where my journey will lead, but you do. Thank you that you are always by my side and that I am never alone. Help me to grow in faith and meet my desire for a partner.
My time is in your hands. You are mighty, you see everything and know what you are doing. Please prevent encounters with people of the opposite sex who are not meant for me and show me who you have for me.
Heal me from my past and free me from lies I’ve believed so that I will be prepared for my future relationship. Shape me so that I become more like you.
Help me to use this time wisely. Show me how I can grow closer to your heart. Prepare me for the partner you have for me and establish me firmly in you. Because if I stand strong in you, my relationships will be more peaceful. Help me to put you first in everything and focus completely on serving you, knowing that you will open the right door at the right time.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
My times are in your hands; Psalm 31,15a
In a relationship
Thank you, Father, for bringing us together. Please bless our time of getting to know each other. Show us whether you want us to stay together and what plans you have for our future. Place your vision for us in our hearts. Help us to put you first in our relationship and to make decisions with your help and wisdom.
Prepare us for marriage and strengthen us in our relationship with you. Help us to remain independent and at the same time to grow together in a harmonious union. Guide and lead us into the future you have for us and give us your blessing according to your will.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2,18
A prayer for engaged couples
Thank you, Father, for bringing us together. What a joy and what a privilege that we can enter into the covenant of marriage and reflect your glory in our relationship. Bless our preparations and our future marriage. Help us not to get overwhelmed in all our wedding preparations but to keep our focus on you and our future life together.
Give us your peace as we take steps towards our wedding. Show us what you have in store and give us a vision for our life together. Prepare us for marriage and transform us into your likeness so that we can approach each other with love, grace, and patience.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:31-33
A prayer for married couples
Father, keep our love alive. Protect it and keep it fresh and strong. Help us to nurture our marriage. You see all our commitments and our busy schedules. Give us the wisdom to make decisions that will bless our family life and strengthen our marriage. Fill us with your presence and your love for one another. We need your help, blessing, and favor.
Heal us from our past and free us from the lies we carry in our hearts, which are at the root of most of our conflicts. Bring to light everything that is being planned against us in the dark and destroy the plans of the Evil One over our marriage.
Strengthen us and let your peace and joy abound in our relationship. Let our marriage be a testimony of your love and goodness. Let our light shine forth so that we can proclaim the Gospel without words, through our love for one another and our actions. Transform us so that we can become like you and grow in love. Build your kingdom in our marriage and through our marriage.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7
A prayer for the newly separated
Father, you see the pile of broken pieces I find myself in. You see my pain and my grief. Please meet me and carry me through this time.
Help me to make peace with the past relationship. Show me what I should forgive and how I can let go. Show me what I need to confess and heal my heart from the wounds caused by that relationship and separation. Help me to get clean closure, sort out my thoughts and feelings, and find peace about the situation.
Use this season so that I can grow closer to your heart. Help me to seek you and to put you first in everything. Show me your will for my life and help me to take steps towards a new future. Guide and direct me as I rely on you.
You know my heart and all my desires. I am safe with you because you know me through and through. You have not forgotten me, but you are healing and guiding me. I trust you.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3
A prayer for the widowed
Father, you see the pain I have gone through and still experience. Thank you for being close to me. You know my helplessness and despair. Be my comfort and my strength. Heal my heart so that I can experience freedom and joy again. Please meet me anew and restore what has been broken. Help me to trust in you again.
Guide and direct me in everything so that I know what the next steps are. My future is in your hands. You are my hope in everything. I hold on to you tightly.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:3-4
A prayer in uncertainty (break in the relationship, unrequited love, etc.)
Father, you see my situation. Even when all I see is chaos and confusion, you see the order you will create. I know that you are in control.
You are guiding me through this time. Meet me and show me the way. I need clarity and your help. Show me how to deal with this situation and give me wisdom. Restore what is broken and help me to let go of what I should let go of.
Let your will be done over everything.
Give me your favor and your blessing so that something good can come out of this situation, no matter how hopeless it may seem. I trust you. You are greater than my situation and will lead me out.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13
